After coronavirus ruined Juliette’s original plans she was ready to take on this Field Trip Friday! In typical Juliette fashion she planned a whole day of stops making things as complicated as possible 😊
No really, she just likes a lot of things! First stop – donuts!
We decided to try out a new donut shop – the Dapper Donut. What a wonderful discovery! They have a variety of fun (and delicious) flavors. We were a little confused by the choices until we learned that they are tiny, bit sized (well 2-3 bites) donuts. We had so much fun sampling all of the different flavors. Among our favorites were bananas foster, apple pie, lemon blueberry, and oreo cookie. Originally we bought a package of 12 and ate them so quickly we immediately went back inside for another dozen! We all decided we want to go back for one of the signature milkshakes!

Juliette had a particular plan in mind but the feature stop did not open until noon so we had some time to fill! No problem for J – she has lots of ideas! Our next stop was Barnes and Noble. Thankfully this is a popular idea for all of the kids so everyone was excited to visit the bookstore. Of course some kids found books they could not live without and Sam even found a Lego set! All happy campers so far!

By this time it was lunch and although it took some negotiating we settled on Jimmy John’s. Charlie was not thrilled and decided he would only eat chips for lunch (whatever! It’s field trip Friday!). Unfortunately he did not ask enough questions and didn’t realize he chose Salt and Vinegar chips. Boy was he surprised!
Finally we were ready for the featured stop of the day! The Makery! The Makery is a local crafting shop where you can choose from a variety of crafts activities. They have all of the supplies needed and provide space and assistance to complete your crafts. Each child carefully selected their crafts and got to work! Juliette chose to make a wooden quote sign, Katie selected a door hanger, Samantha found a jewelry box and Charlie strategically chose 2 crafts that added up to the price limit.

Everyone got to work and although we had some creative blocks which caused a little stress they all completed the projects! The staff at The Makery was so patient and really helped the kids work through their projects! It was fun to see each child’s personality coming through in their artwork.

Next week’s adventure – Charlie in charge!
